It is some time since we visited the Dordogne with its spectcular scenery and extraordinary villages carved into the rocky banks of the river, and so it was quite a shock to see the number of other tourists who were also so obviously entranced by this beautiful region of France. Happy to join the throngs during the day, we considered our choice of holiday rental an absolute blessing as we made our escape to its solitude and tranquility each evening. Situated near the tiny village of Veyrines-de-Domme amongst woods and small farmlets, it offers all the comforts and facilities one would need to make for a relaxing holiday in the French countryside.
The nearest restaurant, boulangerie/patisserie and small supermarket are in Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, about 7 minutes away by car. Best of all perhaps are the many well-signed walking paths that surround La lande and are an ideal way of walking off too much Foie Gras or Confit du Canard. One week is barely enough to take in all that the local area has on offer, but we are so pleased to have had the opportunity to enjoy as much as we have, and to have stayed where we did.
